Let's get started

In this tutorial we will go over the basics. Together, we will create a new project and a preset carbon calculation for your project. You can add a project at any level of detail, from some rough numbers or a napkin sketch to a complete BIM model. For this tutorial we will be using in Spijkenisse by as an example.

Home is where you find and create all your workspaces, projects, and libraries.

Projects contain information related to individual design projects. You can add location and other information to it using the

icon. Within a single project, you can create multiple calculations, allowing you to track the embodied carbon of a design throughout the design process. This is also where you create your first calculation in this tutorial.

Libraries contain information that is shared across all projects in your workspace, such as material data or templates. Use them to make information easy to access across projects. As a new user, you will already have libraries for the Ökobaudat database, and CarbonSpace databases for both materials and components.
Projects and Libraries are grouped into Workspaces.

to add a new calculation to your project.
In the pop up window choose the quickscan template to hit the ground running with prefilled information.
In a calculation, we take a snapshot of the embodied carbon of a design based on whatever information you have at that moment in the design. We collect our quantities – how much wall, floor, roof, etc do I have in my building? – and we attach material data – what is it made of? The result is a report with a carbon footprint and a performance breakdown.
Your new calculation will have four tabs: Report, Inventory, Materials, and Details.

to create a new project.
In the pop-up window enter a name for your project and choose the workspace.
In a project you collect all your project information in a folder-like structure, from calculations to project-specific components and materials.
We recommend to create at least one folder in your project for components and materials.
